Joshilyn Jackson's gods in Alabama, a novel with a distinctly Southern flair (think Flannery O'Connor, Eudora Welty) hits the bookstores this week.
The novel is Joshilyn's debut, and my chat with her on "First Looks, First Books" is my debut, too--at ReadersRoom.
I loved the novel, with its graceful blend of humor, poignance, and mystery. I loved the narrator, Arlene Fleet--a spunky, funny, vulnerable woman who offered God "a three-for-one deal": She would never again lie, never fornicate outside of marriage, and never return to Possett, Alabama ("the fourth rack of hell"). All He had to do was make sure the body she left behind was never discovered...
Great chat with Joshilyn.
THANKS!
