I spent the last two-and-a-half days tweaking my re-designed web site, with the on-line help of my friend Donna Andrews.
Donna optimized a few jpegs for me. She is also an HTML genius. She figured out how to duplicate the thin green borders that appeared on one page so that I could duplicate them on all the pages. She fooled Dreamweaver into giving me the font I wanted for linked text.
Even with Donna's help, since Tuesday afternoon, I've pretty much been at my computer all day. I even missed out on Sudoku Tuesday night, and dinner. I've been experimenting with shades of color for the background, uploading jpegs of my book jackets, fine-tuning fonts and text.
"Saving" and "putting." Over and over.
This morning I thought I was done , but when I checked the site, one of the links wasn't working. A link on over a dozen pages.
But the link is fixed (a wrong filename, it turns out).
And my web site is ready for its close-up, Mr. DeMille.
Oh, by the way - the photo of the bay on my web site header?
It's a shot my husband took when were were doing a mini-hike in the Julian Pfeiffer National Park two years ago, on our way from Cambria to Monterey.
I love that photo.
I love it so much that it's on my desktop.
